Euboia Island
LICHADONISIA
A breath away from Lixada in North Euboia the area keeps its most valuable secret. There are small islands with turquoise water known as Lichadonisia that throw down the gauntlet to the Caribbean!
The coast of Kabou in Northern Euboia fades into the distance as Lichdonisia approaches and you wonder why so many people travel so far away to find paradise when it’s right here. The largest of the islands is called Manolia, is an haven, there is a beach bar and the water is always turquoise )but always with a strong current). Just 3miles from Kamena Bourla and 600 metres from Kabo in north Euboia, the Lixades are the most amazing surprise. Legend has it that they are Lichas – the man who gave the poisoned tunic to Hercules – and paid for his crime by being tossed in the sea and turn into an island by Poseidon. Manolia also holds another secret, the remains of buildings on the back of the island shows someone was living there until 1961. Rumours has it that the Beatles had tried to buy it, the tour ends at another islands Stroggilis with its lighthouse and 12th century Monastery where Blessed Gregory of Miroblitis served.
Drimona Park & Waterfall
There is a specially designed path that has been created by the Foresty Commision of Limni (that in order to create the bridges used natural resources from the forest). The natural environment of the forest is magical and there is rich flora of fir trees, arbutus, oaks and black pines. Here you will find the waterfall which tumbles into a small lake. The water of the river Sipia have created a cool and magical place. At the base of the path there is the wooden hut from the Limni Forestry commission, that has a small exhibition of local plants and fossils.
From the waterfall there are two paths one to the top of Psirou Hill and one that leads to the Osio David Monastery. If you continue on the first path for another 4.5km you will reach the Psirou Peak. There is an old Volcano which according to the foresty information is still in an active state.
